WASHINGTON, D. C. — U.S. Senator Richard C. Shelby (R-Ala) announced today that the City of Florence will receive a Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) in the amount of $487,933.

The CDBG program is administrated by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) to provide home ownership opportunities to all Americans. These grants allow state and local governments to develop urban communities by providing housing and economic opportunities for low and moderate-income individuals.

Senator Shelby said, “I am pleased to announce over $487,000 for this important home ownership program in Florence. These funds will provide more low-income families in the area with the opportunity to own a home and achieve a piece of the American dream.”
