Terrorism Terrorist activities have made necessary an extensive review of the safety precautions taken at federal buildings and airports and an evaluation of the threat that domestic and international terrorism poses to our society. I am committed to ensuring that federal law enforcement officials have the necessary support and resources to combat terrorist activities. We cannot tolerate any sort of terrorism, foreign or domestic, in this country. We must never forget that, although we may disagree with the actions of other individuals or even our own government, violence is never an appropriate form of protest and can never be tolerated if we are to remain a civil society. Many constituents have contacted me with concerns that Congress will pass legislation to combat domestic terrorism, and in turn, expand federal police powers. While I am committed to preventing terrorism in this country, I recognize that the government must not take actions that violate the Constitutional rights of American citizens. I assure you that I have never, and will never, support any legislation that violates the Constitutional rights of law-abiding citizens.
